About this deal

Parents often agonise over what to call their children. It can feel like a test of creativity or a way to express their own personalities or identities through their offspring. But what many parents might not fully realise – I know I certainly didn't – is that the choice they make over their children's names could play a part in shaping how others see their child and therefore ultimately the kind of person their child becomes. The Dubunni had a central or important settlement at Bagendon in Gloucester, on the eastern edge of their territory. Their first known king was Tasciovanus, who is known from the coins he minted with his name on them. The People with No Name: Ireland's Ulster Scots, America's Scots Irish, and the Creation of a British Atlantic World, 1689-1764. Indeed, they may have been one of the first tribes to submit to the Romans, even before the Romans reached their territory.

These consequences should not be taken lightly, but that's not where the influence of names ends. Even within a single culture, names can be common or rare, they can have certain positive or negative connotations in terms of their meaning, and they can be seen as appealing or unfashionable and disliked (and those views can change over time with fashions too). In turn, these features of our names inevitably affect how others treat us and how we feel about ourselves. There is no reason to think that this group shared any common ancestry with the group in Caithness. The China Story Project is a web-based account of contemporary China created by the Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW) at the Australian National University in Canberra, which has the most significant concentration of dedicated Chinese Studies expertise and is the publisher of the leading Chinese Studies journals in Australia. The discussion between Íñigo Errejón and Chantal Mouffe is a testament to the intertwined relationship between theory and praxis, and the necessity for a dialogue between the two. Theory is never created in a political vacuum and emancipatory politics cannot proceed without a theoretical critique. This incisive and compelling analysis of the current historical conjunction is a must read for theorists, activists and anyone interested in contemporary struggles.’But it is just as likely to be a coincidence, as people used similar types of names for themselves such as 'the people of the mountains' or 'the brave people' etc. I think you have to have some context of what modern Chinese society looks like to be able to really enjoy this show - even though a lot of the main characters are politicians, there's a relatability factor to it that really strikes a chord with the audience as the show touches on various social issues. I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this show to the point where I'm still discussing it with my parents. For those who dismiss this show as pure propaganda, I feel that's a bit unfair to a well thought out, well acted drama that does have a lot of fantastic social and political commentary. I would definitely recommend it! At its most virulent, populism has destroyed democracies from the inside out, causing social instability, economic catastrophe and, in some cases, authoritarian repression. In other cases — such as South Africa — populism is a rising threat as strong constitutional guarantees of democratic accountability come under threat. From their territory come the finest hoards of gold treasure found in Iron Age Britain; the Snettisham torcs.

Unlike other people living in Britain between about 300 and 100 BC, the people in East Yorkshire buried their dead in large cemeteries. For a time in the period around AD 45-57, they led the British opposition to the Roman advance westwards. The People with No Name : Ireland's Ulster Scots, America's Scots Irish, and the Creation of a British Atlantic World, 1689-1764 They did not use coins, nor did they have large settlements to act of political centres for the tribe, and there is no evidence for a dynasty of Dumnonian kings. Before the Roman Conquest, the whole of the territory between what is to today West Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire was the territory of the Atrebates, this important kingdom had two major centres at Silchester, near Reading, and Chichester.Gladys, Doris, Hilda and Ethel were all in the top 20 in 1904 but they have all, at some point, disappeared from the full list of names given to baby girls since 1996 (the first year the full list of names given to three or more babies is available). Tacitus describes them as a strong and warlike nation, and for ten years or more the Romans fought to contain, rather than conquer them. The Dumnonii were the British tribe that occupied the whole of the South West peninsula and parts of Southern Somerset. Forgotten the title or the author of a book? I discovered this drama a few weeks ago completely at random. It's my first exposure to Chinese dramas. My understanding is that this particular show is special in that it was funded by the government's anti-corruption bureau so the censors went easy on it. I've been watching 1 or 2 episodes a day. I'm finding it to be an interesting example of "white" propaganda, or propaganda that is aimed towards improving the image and morale of the people its aimed at. By American standards the technical production is...pretty shoddy. Budget film student level. The camera work is okay, but the sound stage is often really bad, ie, you hear the stage echo loud and clear. But, the actors are all top-notch. Several of the main characters have a very strong screen presence. And the plot is very engaging, even if it gets drawn out a lot.

Errejón, Political Secretary of Podemos, discusses with political theorist Chantal Mouffe the political strategy that underpinned the development of Podemos in Spain, and explores the possibilities for a new left politics that might emerge out of these developments. Like the other tribes of the Welsh Mountains, they were difficult for the Romans to conquer and control. The name of this tribe could be spelt either as Damnonii or as Dumnonii although the Dumnonii is also the name of the people who lived in Devon and Cornwall at this time.
