This is the bare Christmas tree before embellishment. Depend on how you want to embellish it, I made 4 different designs here for you reference. This Christmas Tree Craft is easy, inexpensive, and each tree comes out looking completely unique. They look so amazing and impressive, and are perfect for holiday decorating. The glitter shimmers in both the sunlight and nearby Christmas lights (or tiny fairy lights as I use in the photos). Christmas is the perfect time to encourage your child's creative side. Homemade decorations will give your festive preparations a personal touch, and can be a lovely keepsake to pass down the generations. For every piece of produce you put on the tree you will place a piece of fresh spinach under it. This is what gives it a real tree look and it hides the color of the cone too. Be sure to tear off the stems of the spinach before applying it to the charcuterie tree. Worsted is the most popular yarn weight for many crochet decor projects. It’s easy to work with (not too fine nor too bulky), holds up well over time, is affordable, and offers plenty of colors and fiber options. You can also put it on whatever base you plan on displaying the tree on. I transferred my tree to a platter when I was finished. The styrofoam cones I found at Michael’s craft store. I’m certain you will be able to find them at any of your local craft stores to be honest. Just look in the styrofoam section where they keep all of the flower assembling supplies near the frames.After the glue is applied, it’s time to add the glitter. Now, I know some people are afraid of crafting with glitter, but I love it and I have NO shame admitting that glittery sparkly crafts always put a smile on my face. The MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO when working with glitter is to prepare your workspace first. Have paper plates ready for each different color, spread the supplies out before getting started, open the glitter container tops before starting, and move slowly. Rushing over an unprepared workspace with glitter is where messes can happen. Most of the ideas work best as simple ornaments that you can place around the house. Kids will love giving handmade Christmas ornaments as a gift, too! Be sure to praise your kids for their Christmas creations. Even if it's not a work of art, you can always congratulate them for trying so hard! When reaching the tip of the cone, cut the yarn away and hide the end on the tip with a small dot of glue. Fill a sink with water and place the cone in the water. Don’t push it down, just let it sink and soak in the water on its own. It will be heavy and pretty waterlogged when you remove it. To get started, you will need ultra fine glitter. Getting ultra fine glitter is what makes all the difference with this craft. The trees get a smoother sparkle appearance compared to chunkier glitter. Bonus, I find extra fine glitter easier to wipe up:) I needed a distraction from the events going on in the country right now so I decided to decorate for the holidays early. Starting with a darling succulent Christmas tree centerpiece! This compact tree adds a nice pop of color to the table. It would be cute in an apartment, too! I actually bought way more ingredients than I needed. This is why you see a lot more food in the photos. You can place the food closer together and use less spinach if you really want to load your tree with a lot of ingredients. This can get expensive too so adding the spinach really does help to lower the amount of ingredients which lowers the cost. The amount of food on your tree will depend on how many people you have at your party too. How to assemble the Charcuterie Tree: If you soaked the foam, do not water your succulent tree. If you used dry foam you will want to occasionally water the tree (I like using a syringe to water succulents). I was careful to try and place different colors of food next to different colors to help it balance out the design. You will also want to keep this in mind when you are choosing the ingredients for your tree too. Notice the small tree we made as a lot of green from the spinach and the grapes. Then we added blueberries for a pop of color! You could have one savory charcuterie tree and one sweet charcuterie tree too!
