About this deal

Seventeen days until Euros, seventeen days to use up more than two hundred and thirty thousand pounds. I think that if the book included more action and events occurring then it could be better but the book didn’t take any big unexpected turns and didn’t include anything adventurous or out of the ordinary which is what I didn’t like. The pair have big decisions to make, needing to reconcile their wildly different ideas about what to do with the cash. While you are hearing your father’s words to be ‘excellent’, following the guidance of the saints, your brother is more of a real-estate baron, it seems…. Somehow, through a series of exciting adventures, Damian brings the family back together and they all discover that family and friends matter more than any amount of cash!

Then the next day when they come home from school they realize that crooks stole the rest of the money that was in the bag!I probably wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone because I think that it’s just very boring and that there’s no real climax in the entire story. His books have been shortlisted for a multitude of prizes, including the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, the Whitbread Children's Fiction Award (now the Costa Book Award) and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Damian and Anthony are well written characters, but I think the way they were written would have been more appropriate for boys older than them.

We follow Damian and Anthony (brothers) through everything they do with the money before the day when the pound gets changed for the Euro. When a huge bag stuffed with more than 200,000 quid comes flying out of the sky and into Damian’s cardboard “hermitage” (i.I don’t think I would make any major changes because there wasn’t much wrong with the book however if I had to change something it would be to build suspense and add action because I found the book very bland and not very exciting. This edition of Frank Cottrell-Boyce’s Carnegie Medal-winning Millions features fantastic cover artwork from the brilliant Steven Lenton. Beside winning the Carnegie Medal from the British librarians, [2] [3] Millions made the shortlists for the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize and the Branford Boase Award.

The writing was very well-paced for a television generation, since the author wrote Millions first as a screenplay it maintains a highly visual and plot-driven style. We bought this book for our 'level 6' class because Mrs Sedgwick's mum (who is a librarian) said it was well-written and demanding. This was a really cute story about growing up, and learning about how great (and burdensome) money can be. Frank's first book, Millions, won the CILIP Carnegie Medal in 2004 and has been shortlisted for a number of awards, including the Guardian Children's Fiction Award 2004. Although I do think it would appeal to the more intelligent readers in the 10-13 age group, a lot of the humour and commentary is probably aimed more at an adult level of understanding.DAMIAN’S BROTHER IS DISOBEDIENT AND WASTES MONEY ON RUBBISH AND WHENEVER SOMEONE CATCHES HIM OR GETS SUSPICIOUS, HE SAY’S ,MY “MY MOM IS DEAD” (WHICH IS TRUE) TO GET OUT OF TROUBLE OR TO GET GIFTS. It's a personal thing, and probably unique to a smaller group of 10 year olds, but my son really struggled to follow the story line because of the way the dialogue is tagged - that means that it doesn't say "he said" or "said Jamie" or "said the Teacher", etc. The boys encounter many problems throughout the story and when all the money is gone they both realize that no amount of money will amount to the family they have and love they share for each other.
